About

Amanda Zarrillo

Welcome, and thank you for choosing me as your swim instructor! A little about me: I am from The Woodlands, Texas. I moved to Los Angeles after I graduated from Texas A&M in 2015.

I have been around the water my entire life - I was on a competitive swim team throughout my childhood and later worked as a lifeguard during high school and college. I competed in statewide water rescue competitions and lifeguarded for two Ironman races from a kayak! After moving here, I took my passion for the water and began teaching swimming to students of all ages.

I maintain certifications in infant, child, and adult CPR, First Aid, and AED through the American Red Cross. My top priority is to keep my students safe and confident in the water, so my curriculum has a huge focus on water safety.

Everyone learns differently. Some students may be comfortable from the beginning, but many will start uneasy. If I'm teaching a student who is timid or scared, I'll take the time to make sure they are comfortable before moving forward. I work to help my students overcome their fears, so I challenge them to try things they might be afraid of at first. I do this because I love seeing my students go from not wanting to put their toes in the water to begging to dive for toys in the deep end!

I plan to offer lessons in LA, North Dallas, Austin, and North Houston in 2025. Please check my calendar for availability depending on location.

“Stella owes all her mermaid skills to Amanda. She went from being afraid to put her face underwater to doing canon balls into the deep end.” - Eric W.

"Amanda is an amazing swim teacher. My 2-year-old loves swim class so much that I can get him to go to bed without a fuss the night before by saying "You need a good night’s sleep so you can swim with Teacher Amanda tomorrow" and he goes right to bed. He is a little fish, I can't believe that he can swim and is so happy in the water it makes me so happy! Swim class with Amanda is something I know Dylan and I will cherish forever! I highly recommend her to everyone." - Anne S.

"If you live in LA or nearby, she's worth the drive, check out the amazing Amanda. She is single-handedly turning my little guy into a fish." - David C.

"I highly recommend Amanda! She is just wonderful. My daughter Tirzah has been going to her for almost 2 months now and I cannot believe the transformation. She started out so cautious and scared and now is so confident in the water and looks forward to learning each week! Amanda's approach to teaching is so fluid and natural, it's no surprise that Tirzah has connected so well with her!" -Sarah S.
